On Sunday, 20 September 2026, Lachlan’s family attended the Sydney Children’s Hospital Service of Remembrance at the Little Bay, a special service held to honour and remember children and young people who have died.
The service brought together families, friends and members of the Sydney Children’s Hospital community to reflect on the lives of children who were deeply loved and are greatly missed. It was a quiet and meaningful opportunity to remember Lachlan, alongside other families who have experienced the loss of a child.
We were given a beautiful order of service featuring the words of Helen Keller:
“What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose.
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
These words resonated deeply with us. Although Lachlan is no longer physically with us, the love, memories and joy he brought into our lives remain a part of who we are.
We placed a white rose beside Lachlan’s name as a simple tribute to remember him and to acknowledge the life he lived, the people he touched and the lasting legacy he has left behind.
The Service of Remembrance was a deeply emotional and meaningful occasion for our family. We are grateful to the Sydney Children’s Hospital and its staff for creating a place where families can come together, remember their children and find comfort in shared memories.
Lachlan’s memory continues to inspire everything we do through the Lachlan Leung Foundation, honouring his life, supporting childhood cancer research, and inspiring future generations.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever part of us.
